According to a survey by Istituto Piepoli for il Foglio, 42% of voters would like no more time to be wasted and the homotransphobia law to be completed.
On the day of its scheduling, in Parliament the discussion flares up. But even among the voters there is a fair bifurcation between those who would approve the Zan bill as it is and those who would like substantial changes. According to a survey carried out by Istituto Piepoli for il Foglio, 42% of voters would like no more time to be wasted and the law on homotransphobia to be fulfilled, against 30% who ask to review its contents and 14% for one hundred opposed to approval. But the analysis is even more peculiar if it is calibrated on the different coalitions.
In the Center-Left, the overwhelming majority (66%) is pressing for a quick passage in Parliament, while the majority address in the Center-Right (39% think so) would like a ditching of the bill. The voters of the M5S are more fought. Half of them are in favor of the current text, 32% look favorably on an amendment work. While only 6% would not want it.
Livio Gigliuto, Vice President at Istituto Piepoli, explains to Il Foglio that “the Zan bill, as it had already been noted at the end of May, has a high consensus in the country, but the Italians have understood that a compromise is needed to approve it. Changing it would also mean agreeing to the voters of a Center-Right which, however, seems split: many Forza Italia voters would approve it as it is, while those of the Lega would accept it only with strong variations. The Fratelli d’Italia base is the only one to cheer for the rejection of the law”.
